13 more days - The Vintage Chicks Sale

FEATURED VENDOR - PAM MIKOLAYENKO
from
WOW AND THEN
also one half of THE VINTAGE CHICKS
Anything with patina, history, chips and adored before has always had an appeal for me. Seeing potential and possibilities is what I love to do. From childhood living in Winnipeg, my maternal Grandmother was a great thrift shopper and I never left her home without some little treasure she had found. I remember shopping at what was called The Piggy Bank Sale at Christmastime at the local Community Centre; 5 cents bought some real cool gifts for my family. From early in my marriage I would seek out vintage finds to decorate and remake into my home décor and later was part of a 10 day annual Christmas sale made up of some 50 people. My dream began then to someday have my own little nook to gather and display my finds. In 2007 that dream came to fruition in the village of Longview, and I named it, WOW and THEN. My husband is my awesome partner, helping paint, remake, haul and store my collections. I am open Thursday to Sunday, May to December, adding Wednesdays throughout the summer and Friday to Sunday January to April, 12ish - 5ish, always weather permitting.

The Vintage Chicks Faire is also a dream in the making that began two years ago when Laura approached me at my booth at the Fort Macleod Antique Show. It is almost here and we are looking forward to the rewards of all our hard work. Stop by and say hi at the Faire, or make a trip out to Longview and look for Wow and Then, 146 Morrison Road, next door to the Jerky Shop, you can’t miss it.

We would also love to introduce Heather from Gumdrop Photography who will be hosting a photo booth where you and your friends will be able to take some fun pics in vintage hats and purchase beautiful sepia toned pics as a keepsake of your day with The Vintage Chicks. Her work is absolutely lovely!

Look forward to seeing you all at the show, make sure you pop by and say Hi!

Blessings,

FEATURED VENDOR - DAWN KAY from HOMESPUN OUTDOOR DECOR

“Necessity is the mother of invention”… moving to our dream property as a young couple with 2 tiny babies was a dream come true. With hardly 2 pennies to rub together some days the necessity part of that saying became too real. A practical approach and a creative eye taught me to not only make due, but to share. Not having pretty things doesn’t have to be a part of a practical life. It is all in how you look at. Aged barn wood from the neighbors old shed, that tattered bit of fabric and a flower you grew yourself from one of grandmas divided perennials can be so precious. Lets call it Farmhouse glam!
From owning a retail store, to a successful wholesale business, I only do custom designs now. This allows me more time to be creative. Raising the meat we eat, our own dairy goats and a very large garden keeps me grounded. Being self sufficient is so rewarding. I am so looking forward to being a part of the first Vintage Chicks Fair so I can relish in the inspiration gained from precious finds and re-used treasures. After all……It’s this journey we are all on together. When life gets too serious I garden!

Into my garden come!

42 more days - The Vintage Chicks Sale

There is another sky,

Ever serene and fair,

And there is another sunshine,

Though it be darkness there;

Never mind faded forests, Austin,

Never mind silent fields -

Here is a little forest,

Whose leaf is ever green;

Here is a brighter garden,

Where not a frost has been;

In its unfading flowers

I hear the bright bee hum:

Prithee, my brother,

Into my garden come!

Vintage Chicks Spring Faire - SNEAK PEEKS!

Well our dream is fast approaching, with less then 2 months away, we're super excited to have found amazing vendors right in our own back yard! Our faire isn't going to be just any old sale either, it’s a new style of show to western Canada that will be uniting antiques/collectibles with arts/crafts, a lovely combination, (if we do say so ourselves) stunningly displayed, by very talented & creative women.
from Pam - Wow and Then

“The Vintage Chicks Spring Faire” is a collaboration of reloved or restyled vintage treasures and lovely art for your home and garden. Our offerings are inspired by days gone by when people had less but cherished more. With boutique-like displays brimming with charming handmades, collectibles/curiosities, repurposed vintage finds and one-of-a-kind creations you’re sure to find something special that you won’t find in the big box stores. We truly believe in supporting local talent versus
overseas mass production.

So whether you like cottage, retro, country, rustic, shabby chic, French, movie glam, farmhouse garden or eclectic you’re sure to discover a treasure or two. So make sure to save a few $$ after the Millarville Farmer's Market and pop by the Priddis Community Hall on your way home.

from Laura - all about Pretty!

We delight in the hopes to inspire, nourish your soul, delight your senses, and encourage you to take joy in adding a little beauty to your home and life!

We'll be featuring vendors and posting sneak peeks here until the big day, when we hope to see you all there!

ONE WORLD ONE HEART!

Welcome! This is our first time doing One World One Heart so we're thrilled and looking forward to meeting fellow "Vintage Chicks".  Just leave a comment (make sure we have a way to reach you) and we'll enter your name in the hat. We'll do the draw on Feb.15 so get your comments in by then.

We thought we'd giveaway some vintage stuff so have a peek, some vintage lace, a sweet doll, millinery flowers, cabinet cards & pretty velvet.

GOOD LUCK!
We would also like to spread the news about our new show coming up. We were very inspired by the Farm Chicks show and could not seem to find anything like it in Canada. So we are starting up a new style of show for Canada - The Vintage Chicks Spring Fair in Priddis, Alberta and we believe it will be the first of its kind in Canada. We hope you will be able to make it, please stop in and say Hi.  Also we are still looking for vendors if you're interested just email us for a vendor application.

what a great day!

Well we did it, we set up for our very first Vintage Chicks sale and it looked so pretty if I do say so myself, regardless of the crazy Lethbridge wind. I'm a little late posting but right after the sale I had to head out to Portland for an art retreat which was fabulous! We're so excited about the big Priddis June 2010 show coming up fast, hope to see you there. We might have a spontaneous sale before Priddis and will post any details of upcoming sales here. Also we're looking for more vendors so if you know of any creative collectors/restylists/artists, please send them our way, merci.

and after a hard days work I made Pam a lovely dinner
secret recipe...

Alphagetti!!!

God bless,
